What is a Certificate of Origin?

A certificate of origin is an international trade document that confirms the origin of a shipment. Basically, the document certifies that the transported goods are entirely obtained, produced, manufactured or processed in a certain country.

The certificate of origin is require by almost all countries when shipping goods across borders, and it is used for customs clearance procedures. With the certificate, customs checks if the goods are subject to restriction and to determine the amount of duty to be paid.
