High-bay Warehouse

What is a High-bay Warehouse?

A high-bay warehouse is a warehouse with shelves from a height of 12 metres, with a maximum height of 50 metres. The capacity of such a warehouse ranges from a few thousand to several hundred thousand pallet spaces.

When it is built, a high-bay warehouse requires high investments because the goods are transported by stacker cranes. Further costs arise from the fully electronic management with a warehouse management system. The high-bay warehouses are usually built from a steel construction, but there are also pure wood rack warehouses.

The shelves in a high-bay warehouse are arranged in such a way that there is always an aisle between two shelves. This gives the stacker cranes sufficient room to move when coordinating the goods. The high-bay warehouses are used especially in halls in order to make optimum use of the available space.
