What is In-plant Logistics?

In-plant logistics refers to the movement of raw materials, components and sub-assemblies within the manufacturing plant of a company. In this transport type, goods (usually semi-finished goods) are moved from a storage units to a unit where they will undergo final production (finished goods). Also, the in-plant logistics mean moving finished goods to the location where they are readily available for sale or consumption.
