Logistics service provider

What is a Logistics service provider?

A logistics service provider is a commercial enterprise that provides logistics and production-related services for third parties. These services go far beyond the traditional forwarding trade: for example, services are offered in the area of storage, invoicing or commissioning. Many logistics service providers focus on specific goods, specific types of freight or specific industries. In addition, the types of logistics service providers differ in terms of the extent to which they manage their logistics. A distinction is made between First Party Logistics (1PL), Second Party Logistics (2PL), Third Party Logistics (3PL), Fourth Party Logistics (4PL) and Fifth Party Logistics (5PL).
