RMA-Number

What is RMA-Number?

The RMA-number (Return Merchandise Authorisation number), also known as the return number, is an identification number assigned by the supplier for the return of goods.

Most retail companies have a policy for returns. In this context, the RMA process is used to ensure that goods are returned in an orderly manner so that the return can be allocated and processed more quickly.

Before returning the goods, the customer is required to request the RMA-number from the supplier. It is also important that it is clearly visible on the packaging. Basically, an RMA process contains information about the goods, the reasons for the return and the customer. In this way, it is possible to control what is to be done with the returned goods without much effort. Accordingly, there is much more behind the RMA-number than just a consecutive sequence of numbers or letters.
