Workflow

What is a Workflow?

A workflow is a technically, functionally and physically related work procedures or business processes at a workstation that leads to a targeted goal. Basically, it is a systematic repeated pattern of an organisational activities. Generally, the workflow is composed of different sub-areas such as the assignment of tasks and the definition of transfer guidelines.

Workflow is not an industry-specific term, but it is used in all industries and areas. Whether in logistics, sales or production, a well-organised, controlled and carefully planned workflow is the prerequisite for minimising errors and determining the causes of errors. In larger groups, the coordination of work processes is generated by a workflow management system that ensures greater clarity in planning, resource requirements and cost calculation.
