Meet Charlotte – Report about my internship at Saloodo!

Before starting my master’s degree in „Sustainable Technology“, I was looking for practical experience to complement theoretical knowledge from university and gain a better understanding of business processes. So I came to Saloodo! where a steep learning curve with great colleagues awaited me.

After a six-month internship in the corporate responsibility department at Deutsche Post headquarters in Bonn, I was finally able to pursue my aroused interest in the logistics industry, because at Saloodo! I then had the opportunity to get to know the start-up perspective. An internship at the digital freight platform Saloodo! combines digitization, IT and logistics. Here I discovered how rethinking digital solutions, such as real-time technology, can help to make this industry not only more efficient but also more sustainable, for example by avoiding empty runs.

Right in the middle of it instead of just doing it

I was warmly welcomed into the Saloodo! family from day one. As part of the strategy team, my workplace was in the new offices in Cologne, where the entire team works together under one roof.  My area of responsibility included primarily the preparation of a competitive analysis, although I was also involved in some ad-hoc tasks. I also had the opportunity to look into other areas, such as marketing or software development. In general, all colleagues were always open to questions.

Independent but not alone

The opportunity to work autonomously on my own project was particularly very valuable to me. I was also asked to present the results of my work to the whole Saloodo! team in a presentation at a joint “Lunch & Learn”. At the same time, I was fortunate that my internship coincided with workshops on a collaboration software in the company in which I could participate.

In the end, I can say that I spent an interesting internship period in which I learned a lot in terms of both business strategies and corporate culture. I will especially remember the friendly atmosphere in the international team.
